How To Get Digitally Fingerprinted in 4 Easy Steps

  • Step 1: Get Your ORI Number. This is the digital address the State uses to direct your background screening results to the proper regulatory agency. You cannot be scanned without an ORI number and it's a mandatory field to book your appointment. Please visit our ORI FAQ section if you need additional information..
  • Step 2: Book Your Appointment. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate walk-ins. Click the Schedule Appointment link to schedule an appointment on your preferred, available day and time. Full payment will be collected at this time. Please visit our Appointment FAQ and Payment FAQ sections for more information on these topics.
  • Step 3: Get Scanned. Come on in and have your fingerprints digitized and then immediately uploaded to the State/FBI. The whole process takes about 10 minutes. Prior to your appointment, be certain to review the Location Information below to ensure you'll have no issues finding our office or a place to park. Please arrive promptly at your scheduled appointment time as there will likely be customers both before and after your appointment.
  • Step 4: Check Your Scan Status. This step is completely optional. While neither you nor we can see your actual background check results, as only your regulatory agency and/or employer has access to them, you can check to see if the State/FBI has completed your background screening by clicking the Check Status link. Be certain to have your TCN number available. See our Scan Status FAQ section for more information regarding the status check process.

Frequently Asked Questions

ORI FAQ

1. What is an ORI number?

The ORI number is the digital address of the regulatory agency where the fingerprint results need to be sent. Without an ORI number, it is impossible to submit fingerprints for a background screening

2. Where do I find my ORI number?

If you are unsure of what your ORI number is… Your employer, licensing authority, or regulatory agency is able to provide you with the correct information. Due to the sheer volume of ORI numbers available and the liability of inadvertently supplying the wrong ORI number, we are unable to provide you with guidance related to selecting the correct ORI number.

3. What is an OCA number?

The OCA number is the numeric designation for the entities requesting prints (i.e. employers). It is typically only applicable to DCF applicants. This allows the regulatory agency to see specifically which entity is requesting the applicant’s fingerprint background.

Scan Status FAQ

22. How long does it take to get the results?

Generally, it takes 3-5 business days for the State to process your fingerprints through the FBI and then send the results to your regulatory agency.

23. What is a TCN number?

The TCN number stands for “Transaction Control Number”. It is a unique identifier for your specific transaction. At the conclusion of your appointment, the technician will give you an opportunity to either photograph or write your TCN number down. While customers people may never need to reference this number again, it’s important to retain this information in the event your regulatory agency asks for it.

24. How do I get my background screening results?

Only the State and your employer have access to your results. Our role is to simply scan your fingerprints and submit the digital image of them in a secure file to the State for processing. However, you can check on the submission status of your prints. If you click on Check Status (make Check Status a hyperlink) in the menu, it will take you directly to the FDLE website where you see if your background check has been fully processed yet.. You will need your TCN to view this information. If you have any questions about your results please contact your employer, regulatory agency, or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) at (850) 410-8161

25. What if my employer doesn't see the results in their system?

As stated above, we only scan and submit your fingerprints for processing. Your employer or regulatory agency should call the Florida Department of Law Enforcement at 850-410-8161 to inquire using the supplied transaction number (TCN).

Miscellaneous FAQ

26. Can I get a copy of my fingerprints?

No. We cannot provide you with a copy of your fingerprints. Your prints are digitally scanned into our system and then converted into a secure EFT file. This file is not viewable without very specific software and we do not offer a service where we physically print your scanned images onto a paper card.

27. Can you submit electronic prints to another state?

Yes, but only if the receiving state entity will accept an .EFT file directly from the applicant via email, or there is a live scan vendor in the receiving state that will upload the .EFT file for you. You'll be digitally fingerprinted in our office, as usual. However... Instead of us submitting the prints directly to the state agency as we do with our Florida scans, we'll email you the .EFT file that contains your prints/biographical data and you'll be responsible for submitting them yourself or finding a vendor in that state that will submit them.

28. What if I need to submit prints to two different ORI numbers?

No problem. All you need to do is book two separate appointments, back to back. Each scan will be billed separately.

29. Do you capture prints on paper cards?

We don’t do any ink/paper type of fingerprinting. Due to extremely low demand and the need for specialized equipment, we decided not to offer ink/paper fingerprinting services. However, most local police departments/sheriff’s offices do offer this as a service for their community. Contact your local law enforcement agency for more information about availability, scheduling, and cost.

30. Do you have a public restroom?

Unfortunately, we do not. However, we are in an area where there are numerous fast-food restaurants and convenience stores that have public restrooms.
